Long Range Awfulness

The Blue Team has now lost 11 games in a row.  Damn, it's been spectacular.   If I had to pick my favourite moment during this beautiful, vomitous run, I'd have to go with this beauty as Jonathan Bernier allows a goal on a shot taken from Arizona's blue line.  What would Nelson Mandela think of allowing a shorthanded goal just five seconds from the start of the period?

He's Giving up on You, Bluey

As the creator of many, many Leaf parody songs, I have to tip my cap to this guy. Steven Ryan fully captures the Blue Team woe.

Heads Up!

Mitchell Skiba of the Tier 3 Alpena (Michigan) Flyers of the Midwest Junior Hockey League got a little frustrated when he was ejected from a recent game.  Upon leaving the ice, Skiba wanted to whack the glass with his stick and ended up clothes lining himself.  Humiliated, all he could do was hustle to the dressing room and leave the stick behind.

Leafs scouts are now said to be extremely interested, impressed with his ability to handle embarrassment.

Randy Carlyle Fired

Randy Carlyle finally paid the price today for entering the new year in a playoff position.  The Blue team fired him as head coach today.  The club was off to a 21-16-3 start and apparently Toronto's brass thinks another coach would have done considerably better than that.

They're wrong, as they are about most things, and have been since 1967.

As much fun as we have here at the Blue Team's expense, nothing can hold a candle to the beat down given today by former coach Ron Wilson.

He destroyed the club today in this interview on TSN 1050 radio.  I have never heard a former coach criticize his former team in such a brutally honest, public manner.

Is Dany Heatley Right for the Leafs?

Dany Heatley was placed on waivers by Anaheim today.  Given that the Blue Team has had a historical penchant for signing players who used to be good - looking in your direction Eric Lindros, Brian Leetch, Phil Housley, Ron Francis and Larry Murphy - he seems like a very good fit for Toronto.

Before any team signs Heatley they NEED to listen first to this disclaimer.

"IS DANY HEATLEY RIGHT FOR YOU?"

My Mumps, My Mumps, My Mumps. Check it out.

With the Blue Team taking on Anaheim this week, I am beside myself with worry that Phil Kessel will be infected with the mumps.  I worry even more that it may go completely undiagnosed.

Oh no he di-in't!
